TransAlp 2009 Training
It's easy to register for a TransAlp holiday. However, it then involves months of training if you really want to get that holiday feeling.Without the training it's going to hurt.
- It'll hurt your legs that will power you up the mountains. Together with lungs and heart that's going to have to work overtime to supply the oxygen you need.
- I'll hurt your back from carrying a heavy rucksack filled with wet weather-clothing, cold-weather clothing, drink to last you through the day (2 Litres =2kg/4.5lbs don't forget), food, tools, spare inner-tubes(2), etc..
- It'll hurt your delicate bottom that'll sit on the same saddle for 6 hours each day over very bumpy and rough terrain.
I usually leave the comfort of the Gym and start the real training in the first week of April, as soon as the snow and ice have cleared from the roads here in Oberhaching (Bavaria).
The first month is on Tarmac to get the body moving again and then I'm up into the mountains to really turn the pressure on.
Below is a collection of photo's and video from my training sessions with my wife, Doris, my regular training partner, Alan and a few others now and then.
