Il trovatore, revolves around two men who are rivals: Count Luna and Manrico, the troubadour and rebel, who is allegedly the son of the gipsy Azucena.
The two men are not only political enemies, but they are both vying for the love of Countess Leonore. Much of the music is known to non-Opera goers.
